The Lemon Tree - Hotel

The bar music came through speakers just under our floorboards, so we had loud music most of the day and evening until the bar shut. The room itself was tatty, with chipped paint and broken window catches. There was one chair, a tiny desk, no desk lamp or luggage rack, and the duvets were too small for the bed. Cold air came in through the window, the heating didn’t work properly, and the tiny TV didn’t work either. The bathroom sink was too small to fill the kettle. There’s no lift, the stairs are steep, and nobody offered help with luggage. All in all, basic and really not a three-star hotel. I wouldn’t stay again.

Whether you book a meal or stay the night, this place is well worth it. The rooms are comfortable, and the food is amazing thanks to an excellent chef. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The boutique hotel is right in the heart of Wrexham, and I’d thoroughly recommend it for lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, or an overnight stay.

I never actually made it to Wrexham or stayed in the room I’d booked because something unexpected came up. In the evening, the hotel texted me detailed self check-in instructions, apparently assuming I’d be arriving late. They explained how to get into the hotel and access my room. That was above and beyond.

Had Christmas lunch today with five friends. The food was tasty and there was plenty of it. Service was excellent from the attentive staff, from the moment we arrived and throughout the meal. I’d definitely recommend the venue and will be back. Thank you.
