The couple who run the hotel really make it, they're fabulous and efficient, and keep the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. It's well placed for an easy bus ride into York, Selby or the designer outlet, with a supermarket a few minutes away and places to eat nearby. Our room was clean and comfortable, and well equipped. Some rooms, perhaps all, have full-sized fridges. There was plenty of tea, coffee and snacks, plus bowls of mini chocolates and sweets on the stairs. The windows open fully, and the cooked breakfast was exceptional.

Breakfast and the service were faultless, and Fiona was her usual friendly, helpful self. This was our third two-night visit, and this hotel has become our go-to when we're in York. We had a fabulous king-size room this time, beautifully presented, very comfortable and scrupulously clean, with everything we needed and more. Thanks so much. We're already looking forward to coming back! Jackie and John

We had a very enjoyable two-night stay, with excellent breakfasts and friendly, helpful hosts. The room was spotless, warm and well equipped, and we'd certainly recommend the place and stay again. We're both in our mid-eighties, though, and found the stairs to the third floor difficult. If we visit again, we'll need to book a room on a lower floor. Many thanks.

The little details in the room were great, from the toilet room spray and a dedicated spot for hair and makeup to a ceiling fan and a remote for the lights and fan. There was also a large TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and lots of other channels. We loved the superking bed, which was really comfortable. The room was spacious and very clean, and the service was excellent. Breakfast was very nice too. It's about a 25-minute walk into York centre, and we couldn't find anything to fault. We'd definitely recommend Ashbourne House and expect to visit again.

We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on it, though it smelled lovely as we checked out. The room was lovely and the hosts were very accommodating. It's a great spot, about a mile's walk along the river to York centre. We'll definitely return.
