This was very affordable for me, and I had a comfortable, warm night in the dorm. The building is grand and picturesque, with colourful details and modern furniture, and the staff kept everything clean and tidy. Wi-Fi was always available. It's right in the heart of York, about ten minutes on foot from the train station and ten to fifteen from the bars and tourist sights. The other guests' constant snoring and flatulence were hard to ignore, and traffic outside was noisy, though the hostel faces the main road. Bring your own towel; they only provide a pillow and bedspread. It's not a five-star hotel, but for the price it suited me, and I'd be content to stay here again if I return to York.

Safestay was clean and comfortable, with a handy location for exploring the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the shared spaces had a relaxed feel. Good value for money. I'd definitely stay again.

Stayed at Safestay York for two nights and everything was fantastic. The room was clean, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. It's about ten minutes from the railway station and five from the city centre. I'll definitely come back.

The building itself is stunning, and the hostel is just around the corner from the train station, with York centre a short walk away. My daughter and I had an amazing two-night break in a private triple room. It was lovely, clean and comfortable, tucked up in the roof with original beams. Tea and coffee were provided too.

The location is perfect and the food is good. I just wish there were a proper living area to spend time in. The lounge and bar are okay, but because Reception is there too, it gets crowded and loud. It's also very cold by the front door. We wound up hanging out in the chilly bar, the dining hall, the corridors or our beds, none of which was especially comfortable. A public microwave would be nice too.
