The Crescent Guest House

Mo was such a caring, helpful owner, a proper gent. Our room was spacious, clean and warm, with a comfy big bed, good quality towels, and a hot, powerful shower. We stayed four nights in this lovely little gem. The walk into the city centre was short, past a park and some lovely shops. There's also a lovely kitchen guests can use, with a dishwasher and fridge freezer, and everything you'd need if you wanted to cook. We ate at The Marrakesh restaurant, which is well worth a visit for the gorgeous food and ambience. Thank you, Mo. Xx

Mo took care to make sure we had everything we needed, and his colleagues were pleasant, friendly and well spoken. We spent five nights at Crescent Guest House in Dec 2025, and it was everything we'd hoped for and more. The rooms were comfortable, well maintained and nicely made up, and our ensuite shower was good. The whole place was absolutely clean, and the shared dining and kitchen area was well stocked. Mo even gave us shelf and refrigerator space for our food. The other guests we met were friendly and polite too. It has a lovely mix of hotel comfort and the warmth of home. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting York, UK.

Mo was so helpful and accommodating throughout our stay, and we felt at home from the moment we were warmly welcomed. The property is well placed, near all the amenities and within walking distance of the town centre. Our room was quiet and comfortable, with an exceptionally cosy bed. We'd definitely return and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting York.

Hearing the birds in the morning, with everything so calm, was an experience I haven't had in other places I've stayed. The owner, Mo, and his colleague were charming and helpful, and staying in a genuine Victorian townhouse was lovely as a backpacker. I stayed here on 21st September during my 13-day trip around the UK, and it was one of the best places I slept. The mattress was a bit hard, which was perhaps the only downside, but for me the place was still well worth it.
