Getting to the parking lot is awkward. There’s no dedicated entrance, so you have to go through the neighboring storage facility or come around behind through another shared lot. There aren’t any signs from the road showing which way leads to the hotel. Inside, the hotel itself is fine. The room’s air handler runs constantly at around 65 decibels, which gets annoying.

Operations Manager Sam handled their one small issue quickly and professionally, turning a potential frustration into a reminder of how much this team cares about guest service. Chris at the front desk was also outstanding, welcoming and helpful at every turn, and made them feel right at home. The whole property felt spotless, fresh, modern, and well maintained. It’s clear the staff take pride in keeping it clean and comfortable. I booked a room for my adult daughter and her boyfriend after a visit, and we can’t say enough good things about the Hilton Home2 Suites in Aberdeen. The attentive service and care made their stay feel seamless. I’d highly recommend Hilton Home2 Suites Aberdeen.

Corporate accounts, beware. Our group stayed in town for six weeks, and we’ve always had the best rating at other Hilton properties. We try to be considerate, often helping housekeeping, taking out our own trash, and staying out of the way. This time, though, we were charged a smoking fee even though nobody in our group smokes. Sam seems to have applied it. We’ve called more than once to ask for the charge to be reversed, without success. She said the room didn’t smell like smoke, and emailed a photo of what was supposedly ashes. It was char from an aluminum pan we’d used the night before. During our month and a half there, they also had trouble keeping propane stocked. Maybe she had some feelings about that. I also heard several housekeepers complain that nobody tipped them. After 25 years in customer service, I think that’s bad business. The hotel wasn’t ready for either of the two snowstorms, either. The parking lot wasn’t scraped or salted for two days. Despite the poor administration at this Hilton, a few employees went above and beyond: Mr. G, both Destiny’s, Krista, and the tall maintenance man. I have photos of everything if Hilton corporate wants them.

Destiny at the front desk was really nice and helpful throughout my trip to Ripken. Breakfast had a good selection, and the rooms were clean, though small, with nice bathrooms. Each room has a little kitchen with a hot plate, full fridge, coffee maker, dishes, dishwasher, and microwave. There’s a bed plus a pull-out in the couch, a wireless charger on the bedside table, and a curtain down the middle to separate the beds. The TV is a big, nice Samsung, but the channel selection is limited and there’s no program information, so I couldn’t tell what a show was called. A weird DirecTV menu appeared when I first came in, then went away and never came back. The parking lot is a good size, but hard to find since you have to drive through a few other driveways. The pool is small but big enough, and there’s a gym.

The stay was pretty rowdy, and staff didn’t do anything about it. Both nights, people staying there on motorcycles were outside revving them between 2 and 4 a.m., and other guests were loud and inconsiderate while people were trying to sleep. One man at the front desk also seemed irritated when we asked questions, though the rest of the staff were friendly and gave us ideas for things to do and places to eat. The room itself was nice and clean. Breakfast was free but just okay, with few choices, though enough if you want something quick before heading out. We came for a weekend mini getaway to explore the area.
