We booked a suite for three kids and two adults and stayed two nights. The rooms were clean, though ours had a slightly odd smell when we arrived. It was stocked with pots, utensils, dish soap, coffee pods, and other basics. The staff were nice, and breakfast was good. There were different hot options each morning. The first day had sausage biscuits, bacon, scrambled eggs, and maybe one more thing. On the second, they had little egg bites, sausage, and eggs. There was one waffle maker with toppings, which would’ve been more convenient if there were two, but it wasn’t a big deal. Cereal cups, oatmeal, bagels, coffee, juice, and milk were available too. The kids wished there was an indoor pool 😆

My mother, sister, and I stayed over the weekend for what was meant to be a happy occasion, but the weekend turned out terribly. Even so, every member of staff under GM Juan Gomez treated us better than any five star resort we’ve visited. The hotel was extremely clean and well run. From the kitchen gentleman with glasses making sure our breakfast was fresh to the cleaning, security, and front desk teams, we were greeted and helped with smiles and sincere hospitality. Thank you for making the stay memorable.

TownePlace Suites in Aberdeen is well maintained and conveniently placed for quick access to golf in the Pinehurst area. The nearby Springhill Suites has had a more recent renovation, but among the Marriott properties around here, this is very good value. It includes free breakfast, unlike the Hilton in the same compound. It’s not fancy, but there’s enough choice for a business traveler. Stores and restaurants are easy to get to nearby too.

At least the shower had good water pressure. The AC unit was another story: whenever it switched on, it sounded like golf balls rolling down a metal drainpipe. It woke me about every 45 minutes, and I couldn’t sleep again until it shut off. The other option was trying to sleep in a 78 degree room, which wasn’t pleasant either.

The area is nice, and the amenities are all within a mile. But the bed was one of the worst Marriott beds I’ve ever slept on.
