Comfort Inn & Suites Regional Medical Center

After spending all day in the sun at a tournament, we checked in around 8pm hoping to cool off, watch football, and shower. The TV was stuck on Family Guy type shows, and neither the remote nor the controls would change it. The shower drain was clogged and the tub filled up, so only one of the three of us managed to shower before checkout at 7am and another hot day of softball. The manager offered $25 after I called to complain, but the room cost $159 for one night, too much for such an outdated place with no working TV or shower. I contacted Choice, and they gave me 10k points, saying it would be enough for a free night. When I tried to book, I found I’d need a room under $100 for the points to cover it. That wouldn’t even make up for this awful night.

We stayed two nights, March 22-24, 2025, at Comfort Inn & Suites Regional Medical Center, booked through Booking.com at a fair price. The neighborhood near the hospital was nice, parking was easy, and check-in was quick, with friendly, smiling staff. The exterior also made a good first impression. Both nights were quiet and peaceful, with only a little noise from heavy doors. The bed and fluffy pillows were very comfortable, and I was happy to have both a shower and a bath. Breakfast was good on both mornings, with fresh, tasty eggs and sausage. I especially liked the Texas-shaped waffles. Beth, the cook on the first morning, was kind and helpful and made my morning. The next day's breakfast was the same, though Beth wasn't there. A housekeeper knocked around 9:15am to ask if I needed anything. I said no, but when I returned, my room had been cleaned and stocked with fresh towels anyway. We asked for a late checkout on the second day and were told no because housekeeping was tired after a long weekend and wanted to get home early. They said it kindly and apologized sincerely. Checkout was easy. I have no complaints, and this will be my go-to when I visit Abilene.

The room was pleasant, and the staff were nice, especially the maid service. But our gas was siphoned the first night. I told the woman at the front desk, and she said she’d tell the manager and have him contact us. He never did.

There’s plenty of parking, and the rooms are large. The furniture is dated, and the hallways have an odd smell. Breakfast was just okay, mostly microwave eggs, sausage, and hash browns, along with continental choices like muffins, pastries, and oatmeal.
