We had no complaints about our stay, which was a nice change in a world full of negativity and complaints. The room was spacious and clean, and we had no issues. It’s clearly a fairly new location. Breakfast was well prepared, with enough choices for everyone, and there was plenty of clean seating. I appreciated the free USA Today newspaper. We needed a room on a Saturday night after a tire blew on I-70 near Abilene, KS, and booked through Priceline. I wish I’d caught the night clerk’s name. He was very nice and conscientious, and because of an earlier issue, he came along to make sure the room was to our satisfaction.

The staff were very kind and courteous, and I think they’ll get the problems sorted out as the new hotel settles in. It’s fairly new and dealing with some maintenance issues. One elevator was malfunctioning, and our room had a leak from the unit above. Water came out of the wall, bubbling and cracking the paint, and at one point it lightly sprayed across the bathroom.

Breakfast tasted good, and the pancake maker was awesome, but there weren’t many choices. Omelet was the only egg option, bacon the only meat, and there were no potatoes. More options would have been nice. We were excited to try the new hotel, but were disappointed. The parking lines have already worn off, making parking difficult. The room floor clearly hadn’t been vacuumed, with crumbs and other stuff that wasn’t ours, and the shower hadn’t been cleaned. There was no regular hand soap, just a Dove bar. It was also pricey, over $200 for one night in one room. Next time, I think we’ll stay across the street at the old Holiday Inn.

Great bed, good lighting, and enough outlets. The shower was good, though I wish they’d bring back bar soap. The TV selection was really disappointing. Breakfast was standard, and I’d love to have Bold Roast coffee available.

The A/C was my one real complaint. When the compressor kicked in, it roared like a jet engine and kept waking me up all night. I told the front desk about it when I checked out. The property looks new, though there were no parking stripes, ice was available on only two of the four floors, and some interior finishing work still needed doing. It was very quiet, with no highway, hallway, or neighboring-room noise. The breakfast area was large, and the selection was good for the most part, though they needed more fruit. It felt a bit pricey compared with what I usually pay at an HIE, probably because the KU game was that weekend.
