Home2 Suites by Hilton Abilene Southwest

I'm four weeks into training here, with two more to go, and I've really liked the hotel. Breakfast is awesome, and the cleaning crew does a great job. The receptionist at the front desk is very kind. The manager is thoughtful and makes sure guests are happy and well taken care of. It's been a really nice stay.

I expected more because I'd stayed at other Home2 locations, but this one didn't live up to those experiences. We paid over $300 a night, which felt like a lot for a cheap hotel. When we turned in, we realized there was no maid service, fresh towels, or replacement coffee and toiletries. It's an okay hotel, but I won't stay here again or recommend it. There aren't many choices in Abilene, unfortunately.

Breakfast was fresh, well stocked, and had a nice variety, so it was a good start to each morning. My family and I also found the rooms clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Housekeeping kept them fresh and smelling great. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Even on a day when the room wasn't serviced, they checked in quickly to see what we needed. We had no problems, and I'm looking forward to coming back with my family.

Robert, who was working the overnight desk, was extremely personable. I studied hospitality management and tourism and have worked in the industry, and I think he's a real asset to the company. The hotel itself is new and nice, with a spacious room and clean bathroom. Target and dining are conveniently close, but not so close that you smell them outside. I didn't try breakfast or the pool because it was too cold to swim. The bed was softer than I like, but that's just my preference for a firm hotel bed. I didn't notice any of the cleanliness problems other guests mentioned. All in all, a good hotel.
