Super 8 Abilene KS

We’ve stayed here every year when visiting, but I won’t be back to this hotel or any other Super 8. Out of the eight rooms they assigned our group for a couple of nights, three hadn’t even been cleaned. There were bed bugs and spiders in the sheets, and the pillows looked about 20 years old. The sheets and comforter were paper thin, so expect to be cold while sleeping. The manager who checked us in seemed nice.

The bathroom was dirty, the lamps had mold on them, and the furniture was beat up. The mattress was vile and uncomfortable. We were only stopping for a few hours after a long drive, so we slept fully dressed on top of the quilt, using our own blankets. The room felt about as cold as the 24F outside, and the heat didn't come on until around 7:30am, just as we were leaving. This place needs far more than an update. It needs a torch and a fresh start.

The young woman at the desk was very polite, and I found the motel a good deal at just under $60 with everything included. Of the Super 8s I've stayed at, this is one of the better ones by far. The carpet throughout and the interior doors made it feel quieter and cozier on a budget. I found very little worth complaining about, and it didn't have the problems some negative reviews described. You get what you pay for, so don't compare it with a four-star hotel. I'm a real traveler, not a hotel-friendly bot, heading from Colorado to Fla. as a recent widower. I've made this trip several times this year for family business, and I'd stop here again if I needed to. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Hanukkah to everyone.

I was made to leave about 15 minutes after arriving, and the room I'd been assigned was filthy with a broken security latch. I was told my small beagle would have to sleep in my car, which was upsetting and unacceptable. I had already disclosed the dog to the person on the reservation line when I booked, but the front desk accused me of not telling the hotel and wouldn't accept my explanation. The staff member was hostile, told other employees not to let me speak with her, and was removing other guests that evening too. I recorded a significant part of the exchange and didn't consent to being treated that way. I've never felt this intimidated or feared for my dog's safety at a lodging place before. I did everything right, and she lied. Don't stay here. Sleep in your car.
