Hampton Inn by Hilton Abingdon

The store in the lobby is handy and has things you might have forgotten, like a toothbrush, tampons, or sweets. Breakfast was actually good, too. The rooms were much nicer than I expected, with soft, clean beds. The one catch is that the hot tub is outside by the pool, which you can't use after 11. They do have a fire pit beside it, which was nice as the weather started getting cooler.

Breakfast was just okay, and I wish there'd been turkey or chicken among the meat choices. The rooms were very clean, though, and Shana at the front desk gave excellent service. It was a great stay.

We were shocked that Hilton wouldn't change our non-refundable booking after I accidentally selected March 29 instead of March 28. My husband noticed the date on the confirmation email, and we thought one phone call would sort out a simple mistake. Instead, we were told it couldn't be changed. We felt hurt by the response and don't see how that counts as customer service. We've always been happy with Hilton and regularly stay at this hotel when visiting Abingdon for the Barter Theatre and Damascus trail. Now we're sad to leave, but can't accept being treated this way. I've recommended Hilton to family and friends, but won't anymore. I hope someone can change this policy so customers get a one-time date correction when they click the wrong stay dates.

I've stayed at this Hampton Inn at least six times while traveling from Nashville to Virginia to visit family. The staff are so kind that it feels like home, and they're always accommodating to my beautiful Collie. It's easy to take her outside for a walk, and the dog park is a nice bonus. There's a field behind the hotel with beautiful horses to watch. It's clean, in a great location, and my go-to place when I'm visiting.
