Quality Inn & Suites Abingdon

My wife and I had a comically bad stay from check-in through checkout. I could list about twenty problems, but the room's black mold was the worst. There was mold between the air-conditioner vents and more in the shower area, and we got terribly sick after staying there. If you have to stay, take a close look at the vents and shower, and don't use the AC or heater because you could get very sick. This place was worse than I expected, and I wouldn't be surprised if some positive reviews came from staff, their friends or family, or from back when it wasn't so bad. I'm writing in hopes of sparing another traveler the same mistake. I could write a 5,000-word essay about everything wrong, but this is already long enough.

This Quality Inn in Abingdon was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting much when I booked, but the staff were welcoming and seemed to care about whether I was comfortable. Check-in was quick and smooth, and my room was clean, quiet, and had what I needed. The bed was comfortable, there were plenty of pillows, and the bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was better than I expected too, with hot options, fresh fruit, and enough variety to start the day well. The neighborhood felt safe, calm, and decent, which gave me peace of mind while traveling. I'd stay again.

The staff were friendly and it's conveniently located off the highway, but the hotel is run down and needs a serious refresh. My room had black mold in the shower, stained walls, and dirt and grime in the corners. I can see potential here, but management has a lot of work ahead. The fitness center is tiny. It might be better with a few dumbbells and a bench than the broken treadmill and early-2000s home-style cable machine that's likely to hurt someone.

My husband and I were shocked by the condition of the room when we stopped here during a trip. It was filthy throughout, with stains on the floor and around the room, dirty sheets, and a bathroom that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Basic cleanliness was missing. I'm attaching photos because this isn't an exaggeration. I waited to post this because staff said someone from management would contact me, but nobody ever did. They clearly didn't follow up or take responsibility. We would never return, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere.
