The grounds were what made me wish we'd planned a longer stay. There’s a gallery of local artists’ work for sale, a gift shop, a restaurant with a lovely patio, and walking paths dotted with outdoor art. At night, the stars felt close enough to touch. We weren’t even in one of the fancier rooms, but the place still felt like “the land of enchantment.” We found it while planning our drive back to Denver after a Santa Fe vacation. I’d booked a walking Georgia O'Keeffe studio and Ghost Ranch Tour, a childhood dream of mine. A book about O'Keeffe and her work was one of my first art awards in grade school, and she was one of my first introductions to what became a lifelong interest in art. This was the only nearby place that meant we didn’t have to get up early and drive to meet the morning tour group. The pictures looked cute, and it’s right next to the welcome center, so I booked without much thought. I only wish I’d booked more nights. I’ll definitely be back!

We had dinner at the inn’s café on our first night, and came back for takeout on the last. The farm-to-table food was delicious both times. I loved the salmon with roasted vegetables, and my son’s lamb burger was great too. I also tried the mushroom soup, which was out of this world. On our last night, the Strawberry Fields salad was so fresh and flavorful that it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The whole place felt especially welcoming when I arrived on a winter night, with a snowstorm coming. The adobe inn glowed softly, and white lights in the courtyard trees made it feel peaceful and quaint. A staff member came out as I pulled up, explained that I could drive straight to my casita, then helped load my suitcase so I wouldn’t have to unload it twice. In the room, the kiva fireplace was already lit. It was spacious, gorgeous, spotless, and decorated with lovely Southwest touches. Christy had even left a handwritten welcome note. The room had more than I expected for a remote location: great water pressure, a vintage-style fridge and microwave, and a Keurig. Everything felt comfortable and thoughtfully set up. The staff were gracious and responsive throughout. My son, daughter-in-law, and I also enjoyed live music while finishing dinner. The owner was warm and gracious, and her puppy was a big plus for us dog people. I can’t recommend Abiquiú Inn highly enough, and I’m eager to return. I only regret not getting to visit the Georgia O’Keeffe welcome center and learn more about the history that makes this location special.

That Old Fashioned really stood out. It was smooth and well balanced, with just the right citrus and sweetness, whether you have it on the patio before dinner or with your meal. It’s easily among the best I’ve had in the region. The Abiquiu Inn Restaurant has a relaxed, welcoming feel, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The menu has a thoughtful range of dishes made with fresh ingredients, and the food was flavorful and nicely presented. It would be a lovely stop for dinner after exploring Ghost Ranch, or just for a quiet evening enjoying a good meal in Abiquiu.

Janet and the friendly staff made our stay amazing, and the rooms are beautiful. What a hidden treasure, with art all around. We had a magical time at the Abiquiu and can’t wait to return. It’s such a great place for a getaway. Thanks again!

Our room was immaculate and opened onto a courtyard shared with other guests. The property is filled with sculptures by artists from all over, and you can stroll around and see them. There’s also a decent restaurant, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. It’s a unique place to stay. We wished we could’ve stayed longer, so until next time.
