Jonathan Pitney House

We've made this our favorite overnight getaway for years. The whole place is comfortable and very clean, with updated buildings and grounds. The rooms are nicely decorated and have good amenities, comfortable beds, and everything works, which isn't always the case elsewhere. Breakfast is great, and the women are super friendly and cook amazing meals. We always have pleasant conversations with them. The Inn also provides nice snacks and drinks.

We liked it so much that we booked another getaway right away. We stayed in the carriage house, and our room was beautiful, clean, and had its own little balcony overlooking the grounds and lovely garden. It was a relaxing, peaceful break. The Pitney house, the grounds, and everyone on staff were amazing and welcoming, from owner Tracy to Paula, Molly, Leah, and the groundskeeper whose name I unfortunately didn't get. A great choice for a short or long getaway.

The Reeds Room was beautiful, clean, and had a lovely, comfortable feel. Self check-in was easy, and there were tasty shortbread cookies and snacks waiting in the entryway. Breakfast was incredible, and Tracy was so kind and welcoming. We also went up to the “widow’s peak,” which was cool. Historic Smithville and Atlantic City are close by for activities. We really enjoyed our night and will definitely return.

We stayed Friday through Sunday in the lighthouse room for our third anniversary, and it was just right. The historic setting was beautiful, and we had a clean two-story room, friendly welcomes, and breakfast at the inn. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had free soap and lots of clean towels. The TV was small but had all the channels we needed. Room service, Lupe, changed the sheets and towels while we were out, so everything was fresh when we returned. For what I paid, I'd absolutely recommend it for a romantic, rustic getaway. It's clean, breakfast is included, and it's only 20 minutes from the beach.
