Stonehill's Farmhouse

The food at Stonehill's was way better than I expected from a hotel or lodge. I’m a food snob and would try to be a chef if my work were different, so my expectations were low. They catered both our Friday welcome party and goodbye brunch. We picked the BBQ menu for Friday, and honestly, you could go there just for a meal. We had our 140-person wedding at the Farmhouse and couldn’t have chosen a better venue. The team made themselves available throughout planning, set up as many meetings as we needed, answered questions, and worked closely with our planner. During the wedding, they were incredibly responsive and made us feel like royalty. The main farmhouse rooms are cozy without being small, luxurious, and full of charm. I could’ve stayed another week just to use the clawfoot tubs. The cabins are quaint, extremely fun, and cute. The property felt like a fantasy book, with wildflowers, winding paths, goats, and sheep that brought out the kid in me. Our ceremony spot was gorgeous. We chose to emerge from the forest path instead of processing down the aisle, with the ceremony facing the pond for that effect. It could also overlook the property, and I can’t imagine either option being wrong. The barn and reception area looked beautiful and flowed so naturally that guests seemed to know how to settle in and enjoy themselves.

We had a lovely time and will be back. The setting and scenery are gorgeous, the staff are lovely, and the rooms are cool. There are lots of hiking spots close enough to drive to, plus a small trail right on the property.

Our first night in the barnhouse room was lovely, warm and comfortable just as described. The next night, a storm knocked power out across the area. That wasn’t the hosts’ fault, but there didn’t seem to be a backup generator on site, and our warm room turned into a chilly icebox overnight. Running water was out too until power apparently came back later that morning. We’d already checked out to find warmth elsewhere by then. The hosts did bring water bottles and got a fire going early the next morning, which was nice. We stayed two nights in chilly October, and they felt like two completely different evenings.

The trails, trees, pond, and simple architecture made Stonehill’s feel magical on our wedding day. It was a gorgeous setting, special without being overly precious, and just the right combination for us. Kelsey was amazing from signing the contract a year before the wedding through the day after. She was supportive and helpful, even with questions that weren’t directly her responsibility. Her wedding experience gave us confidence and made us feel comfortable going into the big day. We feel so lucky we got married there and couldn’t recommend Stonehill’s enough.
