We love this place, the friendly people, the view of Lake Michigan, and golfing at The Bear in summer. The room and staff were great, and we stayed on the 12th floor of the tower yesterday. But there are a few things that need attention. The shower never got hot. I waited ten minutes, checked the other direction, and found it was ice cold there, so it was set correctly but only lukewarm water came out. The pop machine across from the room was empty, and $4 a soda feels too high; maybe $3 would be better. The old coffee maker has a tiny water gauge on the back, and pouring in what seems like the right amount often overfills the cup and makes a mess. A single serve Keurig would be faster and easier to use. The TV remote was also frustrating: I had to stand close or hold it high to change channels. A backlit universal remote that works from farther away would help. The front desk staff didn't seem too concerned about some of these problems, and I doubt they'll be fixed for the next guest. I also read several reviews from dissatisfied people that had no response, so somebody may want to pay attention to those. I've put time into pointing out what needs fixing, so send me something for helping out. We like staying here, and a few repairs could make it perfect. Thanks for having us.

The pool and saunas in the spa were wonderful, and access to the locker room, with its small saunas and showers, is a nice upgrade if you ask for it. The hotel is well run, with spacious rooms, great views, and all the amenities. My only issue so far is the TV: it's an older model with pay-per-view and isn't a smart TV. Not a big deal, though.

Kudos to Sheri, our server, and Crissy, the manager. The full menu wasn't available on the weekend, and one item shown online couldn't be ordered, which surprised us. Crissy went to the bakery and brought back a fresh chocolate croissant just for us, though, and we're really enjoying our stay so far. Breakfast at NiiJii was delicious. The Maple French Toast is a treat if you like warm cinnamon rolls. Even the breakfast potatoes won me over: seasoned nicely, crisp outside, soft and creamy inside, and I usually don't care for breakfast potatoes. The scenery is beautiful, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

We weren't sure what to expect for New Year's Eve. The activity list at check-in mentioned fireworks and suggested watching from the restaurant we'd eaten at earlier, but no one could tell us if there was a party there, whether we needed tickets, or if it was full. The room was fine, though the climate control couldn't warm it past 68 degrees. We ate at Aerie on the top floor, where heaters at the tables didn't do much to make the place feel warm. Some of the food arrived lukewarm or cold, and the meal wasn't close to worth $125 per person. Some glasses of wine were over $25, which might make more sense if the food were better. The sports bar felt cozy, but the bartenders were hard to get the attention of. A few people at the bar were practically begging for drinks, and we had to flag down one of the two bartenders just to get our bill before leaving. It wasn't even that crowded. We'd never stayed at the hotel before, though we've been to plenty of New Year's events with advance tickets and guest lists.

The pools were amazing. Swimming in warm water while it's freezing outside is a pretty wild experience. The hotel was lovely, the staff were really friendly and helpful, and we had a great time. We'll be back.
