Holiday Inn Exp & Sts King George- Dahlgren

We were here during the January '26 winter storm, and the staff were so kind and friendly. The room and shared spaces felt modern and very clean, with a fresh smell in the air. Breakfast was delicious, with a little variety from day to day. I’d give this hotel a 6 out of 5 if I could, and highly recommend it!

The room was huge, and I loved the scent of the body wash. The TV channel selection was poor, but the other amenities were great. Having hot tea and coffee in the lobby around the clock was much appreciated, as was the complimentary breakfast. The front desk employee who checked me in was friendly and polite, though I’ve forgotten his name. The soft music playing was a lovely touch. My sister and I had traveled from Philadelphia to Virginia for a family member’s funeral, and stayed at K.G. at HIE before heading to Montross the next morning.

There was coffee available whatever time we wanted it, and breakfast had a good range of choices. The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay.

The big room was very clean, with a large desk, and the TV was mounted on the wall so it didn’t take up space. The bathroom was huge, too. As reward members, we’ve stayed at other hotels up and down the eastern seaboard, and the service here was great. They were very helpful with restaurant suggestions. I especially liked the Dove soap, shampoo, and hand cream. No orange-smelling stuff! I haven’t tried breakfast yet. After one night on the fourth floor, though, HIE lost a star. The air switched to heat in the middle of the night, and the man on staff, not the young man, wasn’t any help with the unwanted heat.
