Breakfast in the concierge lounge was dry, stale, and unsanitary. I found a staff member’s hair in the eggs, and another guest was checking out early and complaining about their stay. The property was also littered with garbage, BED SHEETS, smoke buds, and other trash. Parking cost extra per day, which they only mention at check-in. There are no elevators to the upper floors, and the property isn’t ADA-friendly. Much of it seemed half finished and poorly maintained. Our first room at Hyatt House Dallas/Addison had a sink that wouldn’t drain, and water leaked onto the floor from under the dishwasher when we turned on the water. The bathroom door had been sealed wrong and wouldn’t close or lock. There was also a strong chemical fragrance embedded in the carpet that was hard to breathe, even after we aired out the room, so we had to move. The second room had no spare sheets or pillows for the pull-out bed, hair in the sink, and a sliding glass shower door that wouldn’t close. We had to shower at an awkward angle to keep water off the floor. The bedroom doors to the living area pushed open and didn’t lock, which felt like a serious privacy and safety problem. The coffee maker leaked through a hole and wouldn’t fill a mug, and the refrigerator stayed warm even though it was on. I’ll be contacting Hyatt corporate about these maintenance, cleanliness, and safety issues. Don’t stay at Hyatt House Dallas/Addison.

Inside, these apartments are updated and well kept, even though they look a little older from the outside. The location is desirable, and you get a fully furnished apartment with a working kitchen, rather than just a room.

The room smelled strongly of cigarettes and another substance when our group arrived, so we had to leave the door open. We were five women on a bachelorette trip, sharing a two-bedroom suite, and the pull-out sofa couldn’t be used as planned: its mattress had a large urine stain, and there were no covers or comforters. There were ants in the bathroom, marks on the wall that I couldn’t identify, and the sheets weren’t clean. We stayed for two nights only because we had nowhere else to go and were there mainly to sleep, shower, and eat. When we asked the front desk for towels that night, the man told us to come get them. It was dark, so we left the room, got in the car, and drove to the front office. He gave us only three, putting them in our arms, and they were damp. When we called about that, he said they’d just come out of the dryer. We also reported the stained sofa mattress, and he said we’d have to talk to the manager, who wasn’t there. Ahmed later claimed housekeeping hadn’t cleaned because we had a do not disturb sign on the door. That wasn’t true. We didn’t see a sign when we arrived, and the room was already dirty. When we raised everything with the manager, he asked why we’d stayed if it was so bad and offered 50% off a future stay. We politely declined because we don’t want to book with Hyatt again. He promised to call my friend the next day to discuss a solution, but didn’t. When she called him, he argued with her about our experience and said an employee had told him 8-10 girls were bothering him, though there were five of us in a two-bedroom suite. He claimed the towels were the best service he could give. He kept blaming the do not disturb sign, said he needed to check the cameras, then hung up, saying he couldn’t do anything and she just wanted to argue. He also said only one woman handled housekeeping for more than six buildings. We escalated the matter. We treated the property and staff respectfully, but were very disappointed with the service, sanitation, and whole experience at the Hyatt.

The front desk manager was really nice, and I’d stay here again on my way home to Alabama. I felt safe, and the parking was easy: I could leave my car right outside and keep an eye on it. I stayed on the first floor in the 8th building, in a cozy apartment-style place with a comfortable couch and a full kitchen. The location was great too, with lots of good restaurants and the galleria Dallas mall nearby.
