The Addison Hotel

When we're in town for our monthly doctor's appointments, this is where we like to stay. The breakfast is free, hot, and good, and everyone working there is nice and helpful. Our rooms are ALWAYS clean and smell fresh. There's no blow dryer in the room, but you can borrow one at the front desk. I love the bedding! It's close to lots of Addison restaurants, Walmart, Kroger, and more. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!

I saw more than six bedbugs during the day on my short visit, which ended with me changing locations. As an entomologist, I could identify them. They're usually active at night, and they spread quickly, lay hundreds of eggs, are difficult to get rid of, and can cause a lot of stress. They're attracted to the CO2 you breathe out and feed on blood. In my view, steam is the only guaranteed way to remove them, and I doubt the hotel will steam the entire property. Staff strip the beds and carry sheets through the halls, which could spread bugs between rooms. They can also travel through central air systems. I think all rooms likely have them, no matter which one you choose. The hotel said they couldn't refund me until an exterminator provided an inspection report, but they never said when that would happen. Please take my warning seriously and STAY AWAY. If you've stayed here recently and noticed small, itchy red bites you thought might be mosquitoes, check your belongings and your mattress at home. Look around bed corners and frames for small, flat reddish-brown insects up to 1/8th inch. Bed bug infestations cause immense stress. STAY SAFE OUT THERE! SHAME ON THIS HOTEL! Photos attached.

The staff were extremely rude. They treated me carelessly and disrespectfully, without trying to accommodate me or even speak politely. Their response was just to tell me to cancel, with no flexibility or effort to help. They require a $100 security deposit and only take major bank cards. Prepaid cards, Cash App, Venmo, Chime, PayPal, and cash aren't accepted. That policy wasn't clearly explained ahead of time, so you can arrive only to find you don't meet their narrow requirements. Between the strict deposit rules and the way I was treated, the whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. This was one of my worst stays at The Addison Hotel, SureStay Collection by Best Western. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere.

After a week with no answer, I followed up and found my card had been charged. I spoke with Wendy, who was rude, had no manners or customer service, and seemed ready to fight with words. She questioned why I left a hotel with moles on the wall instead of changing rooms, saying no customer had reported illness because of them. I wouldn't recommend this place even to an enemy. It's unlivable and should be shut down by an accrediting agency over the obvious health concerns. We had reserved two rooms but couldn't stay. The front entrance was barricaded, work was happening on the roof, and reception was dark and dingy. I asked to see a room to make sure the bad first impression wasn't misleading. The ceiling was gaping and there were moles on the walls. My sister had never seen anything like it. She screamed, ran out, and said, "This is unlivable, let's go. We can't stay here." I canceled right away and emailed them. Their reply said they'd received my request to cancel reservation 6711959061, that a cancellation charge applied, and that they'd asked The Addison Hotel SureStay Collection by Best Western to make an exception and hoped to get back to me shortly. I'm not sure why anyone would stay here.
