Carlton Lodge Adrian

I was hoping for a clean place to sleep for $80, and the room we eventually got was clean. But the whole check-in mess cost me sleep, and that’s what ruined the stay for me. I’d called a couple of times shortly before midnight to say I’d be arriving very late, but nobody picked up. When I arrived, it was too late to use my reservation, so they took all my details again by hand and said the manager would refund the booking in the morning. First they sent us to a room with no water, then to one marked clean where the beds hadn’t been put together. It took about 30 minutes to finally get into a ready room. At 9 a.m. the next shift woke me and said I had to come down to pay because the person who checked me in had made a mistake with the card transaction. That was their error, not mine. I asked for a later checkout, but noon was the latest they’d allow without another charge. I explained that their delays had already cost me 30 minutes of sleep and were costing me more, but they refused to extend checkout unless I paid an extra $25. By then I’d decided they wouldn’t get another dime from me. The hotel is dated, but clean. The staff were kind and tried to help, though they badly need better training. This could easily have been a five-star review, but don’t mess with my sleep.

We come here when we're in Michigan for the race. The location works really well, and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Our room has always been clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the pool is nice.

We kept having to try our keys about four times before they’d unlock the room. The indoor and outdoor pools were closed, and there was no hot breakfast or fresh fruit. When I asked, they said there wouldn’t be a hot meal the next day either. The amenities listed online were misleading. I wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed for a baseball tournament, and the price made sense for a simple room. Nothing fancy, and the pool and lounge area were just okay. I was paying for the stay, not the amenities. Front desk staff were nice.
