We were lucky to avoid bedbugs, but the rest of the stay was awful for me and two others. The room was coming apart, and the tub had no drain plug. Management actually suggested stuffing cups or plastic bags in there if we wanted a bath. The fridge and microwave were unplugged; when we tried the microwave a second time, it crackled and started smoking. Even though ours was marked non-smoking, the room reeked so badly of smoke, maybe from the bathroom vent, which had no fan. My friend would have been charged too much if he hadn't paid ahead. This place needs new management.

After being awake for 52 hours, we ended up putting up with a second room that had similar problems to the first. Then, when my boyfriend put his arm under the pillow, he yanked it back and shouted. There was a bedbug right there, and we spotted another crawling down the wall. We jumped up, shook off our clothes and put our shoes on. The front desk service had been awful from the start. When we arrived, the housekeeper had just finished “cleaning” our non-smoking room with a lit cigarette in her hand. The room smelled of pee and cigarettes, none of the outlets worked, there were cigarette burns on the sheets and in the sink, hair on the bathroom floor, and rust coming from the shower head. After we told management, they didn't seem surprised or sorry at all. The place looked nothing like its online pictures, felt really sketchy, and people were hanging around our room all night. We've been telling people about it so they don't make the same mistake. Stay away and read the reviews.

Smoke drifted into my room through the drafty door because people were allowed to smoke right outside. The bathroom was dirty, with a used washcloth left in the shower, and the water pressure was very low. The bed was uncomfortable, too. The lodge staff were polite, but didn't make much effort to make me feel welcome. The walls looked like amateurs had hurriedly painted over something.

We spent an easy $400 a month here for the past two months because it was the cheapest in town. Never again. We’re going to travel to the other hotel instead. I’d rather pay more and be treated better, and I wouldn't spend another dime here. The owner was incredibly rude and unprofessional. First they sent us to a room that was supposed to be empty, but someone was staying in it. When I went back to the office, she just said, “Hmm, no one should be in there.” They moved us to another room that was trashed, with the beds not put together properly and pieces scattered around. Then we were charged an extra fee without being told, because we stayed multiple days and the cleaner hadn't come in. She lied to the owner, who called me a liar and took photos of the room. We had put the garbage in bags after buying groceries, and he complained that crumbs needed vacuuming. How dare a cleaner have to clean? He also made fun of my child’s medical issue to justify himself. I'm disgusted.

The door felt like it could come off in your hand when opened, and seemed like it could be pushed in. Bugs, mold, stale smoke, rust everywhere, and a grainy TV. Nothing worked, and the room itself was enough to make you gag. There was vomit on the stairs up to it, strange looking people around, and the whole place felt unsafe. We left, spoke with the front desk, and called our credit card company to make sure the charges would be removed. I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Adrian and Super 8 Adrian.
