Roaches were everywhere, and the room had trash and grime all over it. It was clear they weren't cleaning the rooms. The manager refused to refund me, so I had to go through my bank to get my money back. I also reported the place to the health department, though I doubt anything will come of it. Save your money and your sanity.
I needed somewhere warm to stay after doing night photography along Route 66, and this little mom-and-pop motel suited me. The lobby was cozy, and I like these older places along the route. My first room had a broken-feeling doorknob and a heater that didn't work, but they moved me straight away and said they'd repair it before renting that room again. The replacement was clean and comfortable, everything worked, and the USB chargers came in handy for my laptop and camera batteries. I found the $20 cash deposit a little odd, though I'm sure they had a reason. I'd stay again.
I was there with my wife and two kids, but we only lasted about half an hour. We paid a little over $50 and just wanted to get out, no refund needed. The place was filthy, with roaches and all kinds of dead bugs. None of the sinks had filters, the showerhead was missing, and the lamp had no shade. Disgusting.
The room was awful, and the price was way too high for what you get. There were burn holes in the blankets, no curtain, and missing slats in the blinds so people could see right inside. A TV was there, but no cable service. Just terrible.
After driving 14 hours, I got to the room around 3 a.m. and found roaches crawling over the bed and walls. I took a video and told the manager. He tried moving me, but the other room had roaches on the TV stand and counter too. I got my money back. I wasn't paying to sleep with roaches, I'd rather sleep in my car.
