Homewood Suites by Hilton Agoura Hills

We arrived late and felt we had no other option for the night, after being misled by what seemed like good reviews. As soon as we entered the building where our room was, the smell of animal urine mixed with strong cleaning products was overwhelming. The room looked nothing like the website photos. The furniture was dated, stained, and ripped, and there was hair in the sink and pieces of a razor left in the shower. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned. We travel all year for work and vacations and have Diamond status, but I’ve never been so disappointed. When we raised it with the manager, he brushed us off, said the room was clean, and offered 20,000 complimentary points.

The hallway smelled terrible, and the rooms felt dull, depressing, outdated, and kind of like a Motel 6. The location was awkward, too, and there are plenty of nicer hotels nearby. I checked in, then had to leave an hour later because of a factory emergency. I wasn’t expecting a full refund, but some amount seemed fair. They refunded nothing. Hey Homewood Suites, did you really need my $178 that badly for a one-hour stay?

We only spent one night here, but there was a lot included: a miniature golf green, pool and hot tub, full hot breakfast, and laundry facilities. They also had welcoming rose bouquets grown on the property. Highly recommend!

The front desk service was friendly, the rooms were clean, and the water was hot, though the rooms are showing some wear. Breakfast was standard for the brand, and the coffee could be better. Laidrey Coffee across the freeway is a better morning option. The hotel overlooks the 101, but the noise wasn’t too bad from a room toward the back. A remodel and a newer TV system would earn it another star.
