Days Inn by Wyndham Downtown Aiken

We came back to find our things packed into our suitcases and the curtain pulled open, but the bed hadn't been made and the room hadn't been cleaned. At the desk, the employee said new staff must have assumed we'd checked out and packed our belongings. The next morning, the same person we had spoken to gave us that explanation again while saying it had been someone else. Even getting a washcloth or towel took too long.

I spent three months here while I looked for my own place. Being able to walk downtown in Aiken or to grocery stores made the location really convenient. The rooms were sometimes dirty, but the manager was there for me when I was going through a rough patch and helped me out. He's a truly good man.

The evening staff were pleasant, which was about the only good thing I can say. The daytime desk person was rude and hateful, and five different people knocked in the morning asking whether we were staying, but all they offered was more towels for the flooded bathroom. Water had soaked the floor by the bed, the room wasn't very clean, and the bedclothes didn't look like they'd been washed in a while. I definitely don't recommend this place.

There seemed to be suspicious activity in the parking lot. I can't say for sure, but there was broken glass pipeware outside, so I'd like to know what that was about. Inside, the rooms were disgusting, with odd splatters on the walls, stains on all the linens, and a strong Newport menthol smell. Do better. Stay somewhere else.
