DoubleTree by Hilton Akron Fairlawn

I was really happy with this Hilton property. I stay in hotels at least three days a month, sometimes 12, 13, 14, or even 15 days in a month, so I've formed plenty of opinions. This place is well maintained, the staff are spectacular, and I'd definitely recommend it. The rooms were extremely clean and had the towels, washcloths, linens, and familiar interior design I expect from Doubletree hotels. The lobby was clean too, and the restaurant and bar are right downstairs to the left as you enter. It looks like the place was remodeled within the last year or couple of years, and they did a nice job. The location is great, on WestMarket AKA St.Rte. 18 in farlawn, Ohio, across from Summit Mall, with all kinds of things nearby. I think I mentioned Halloween the thing of the other Doubletree's, and there's a restaurant/bar on the property. I want to apologize for my original review. I used talk-to-text and hadn't realized how many mistakes it made, which is why I edited it.

The location is handy, with the mall and restaurants close by, but the hotel is under renovation and definitely needs updating. Our room was dusty, the beds were smaller than usual but comfortable, and the plumbing was slow. We noticed the same slow drainage in a restroom near the lobby, not just our room. The shower was a bigger problem. The water stayed pretty cold and took more than 45 minutes of running, with three people using it, to reach a decent temperature. The temperature display on the showerhead wasn't accurate. When we plugged in the iron, hair dryer, or charger, the light between the beds acted like a poltergeist, perhaps from an overload or something. I sent these concerns through the front desk's text message. No one told us about breakfast, or about the complimentary hot tea and coffee area common at many Hilton properties. We found it near the restaurant on our last day. My husband liked the warm cookie, but I have a nut allergy, so a nut-free option would suit me better. Our stay was okay, but not the best. I hope our spring visit goes better.

Vanessa in sales/events made our wedding experience amazing. I had a lot of problems and things go wrong, but she was there at every step and made sure everything looked and felt gorgeous. We had our wedding here on October 18th, and guests keep talking about how delicious the food was. Some even said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. I'm so grateful we chose this place for our big day, and would highly recommend it.

For the price, this place was just okay. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean, though a little run down. I picked it because our corporate office is nearby, but next time I'll try another hotel and tell colleagues traveling to OH to consider staying elsewhere for this price. The shower never got above 87 degrees, which is a cold start to the morning. I really need a hot shower, and lukewarm would've been enough, but cold wasn't. The thermostat battery died overnight, so the heat shut off and I woke up freezing. At Sunday evening check-in, the desk clerk only handed me a key. I took the wrong elevator to the third floor, couldn't get to my room from there, and had to haul my luggage back down to find the right one. At a hotel this size, a little direction would help. I'm a Diamond member staying at least 8-10 hotels a month, and places usually ask if I've stayed before and offer directions, even little Hampton Inn locations. No one explained the on-site restaurant, breakfast hours, or whether I qualified for my usual daily food and beverage credit.
