Econo Lodge

We were there less than 15 hours, and smelled like smoke all the way home. I've spent 30 years in industrial work and stayed in some sketchy places, including many trips to developing nations, but this was the nastiest place I've ever set foot in. The front desk guy was nice. Everything else was horrid. Doors were propped open and addicts wandered the property. In the room there was a broken window, a disarmed smoke alarm, busted floors, and sticky dried liquids everywhere: on the AC, gutted phone, TV remote, fridge, and microwave. There were hairballs in every corner, and the smell was repulsive. The bugs on the comforter were dead, at least. I find it comical that booking sites call this place non-smoking. It was an ashtray. We didn't sleep. People ran through the halls and banged on doors. We heard hacking and vomiting next door, above us, and below us, though with broken floors and paper walls it was hard to tell where it came from. I have never felt less safe or more insulted. I wouldn't want anyone I care about to stay here. It needs to be shut down. The site only let me choose one star, since zero and negative weren't options. Zero or less would fit our experience.

I made a reservation for three people and two dogs, but they tried to tell my mother-in-law that I'd booked for one person with no dogs. That's a complete lie. The place is poorly managed, with no hospitality or respect, and I wouldn't recommend it to a dead relative. The room was filthy, with trash under the bed that wasn't ours. They'd only swept up the beer caps under there. My poor mother-in-law fell outside, and they refused to clear the snow.

I'm not someone who can handle bugs, so check the room before handing over money. I found bed bugs in my first room, then they moved me to another room that had roaches. I left. This hotel has bed bugs and roaches.

We felt so unsafe that we left after 20 minutes and got a refund. The hotel is near good restaurants and the mall, which is the only reason I'd give the location a 3. I really don't recommend staying here. I paid another $350 for the room on top of its original cost, and the whole property, including the rooms, smelled strongly of smoke. There were holes in the walls, chipped flooring on every floor, a broken window, yellow smoke residue on the bed and walls, red paint on the floor that might or might not have been blood, a hole in the bathroom door like someone had punched it, and a huge hole in the ceiling.
