Rodeway Inn Akron

I’m usually pretty critical of places I stay, so I mean it when I say this Inn was clean and cozy. It’s been kept up well, the staff were wonderful, and the room was much nicer than I expected. I’ve paid a lot more for places that were much worse, so the price felt just right. Thanks for a lovely stay.

For $68, it was cheaper than other places nearby, which were over $100. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, but small and very dated. The bathroom was tiny, with no vanity and barely any flat space to put things. There was only a shower, no tub, and the bathroom window had a see-through curtain, so I hung up a towel for privacy. Fine for a guy to drop and flop, but my wife was less comfortable. I’d call it about 2.5 stars.

After more than a month on the road, this place gave me the best night’s sleep I’d had. It’s a lovely, quaint spot, furnished with real furniture, brass headboards, and a wooden table with two chairs. Dutch Wonderland and the outlets are only a few minutes away. Some wallpaper could use repasting, but I’d highly recommend it.

I’ve stayed here twice only because other hotels I preferred had no vacancies. Unless things changed in the three months since, the place was badly unclean, with dust and debris under the beds and a mildew smell in the room. My girlfriend got bitten on her back by something, and I broke out in hives, which I attributed to the dirty floors, AC, bed, and curtains. Nothing seemed updated. A lamp was broken and hanging over, and the bed was wobbly and unattached to the wall. The bathroom had mold, stains, holes, and leaks, along with a tiny, cheap shower head that couldn’t be adjusted. I was also scared by the see-through bathroom window that wouldn’t lock. People keep counteracting the complaints about Rodeway and pushing its reviews and stars up. That’s fraud. See for yourself, but I’ll never bring my family or myself back to this filthy, poorly kept place.
