This is my go-to hotel when I need somewhere to stay in Oakland. It feels safe and is clean, and the staff are professional and friendly. Once, my booked room wasn’t available, so they moved me to an upgrade at the same price. There’s a decent breakfast in the morning, plus a gym and laundry room. Not sure what else I’d want from a good hotel.

I really liked the hotel and its team, which made what happened especially awful. The morning after my stay, I woke up with a bed-bug-like rash across the skin I’d left exposed, including my arms, hands, and feet. I checked the area around the bed and found signs and symptoms that seemed consistent with bedbugs. I was in a third-floor room. The rash was painful, rough, and disgusting to deal with on my own skin, and I can’t recommend staying here. The sheets and mattresses need a deep clean. The people seemed like good folks otherwise, though, and I hope they take this seriously and make improvements.

Getting to Oakland airport is easy, and it was a much calmer experience than other major city airports. The hotel itself is quiet and lovely, with kind staff who make eye contact. It’s also near everything you might need in Alameda. There are plenty of warnings in the parking lot about theft, which is common in Oakland. Just use common sense and don’t leave anything stealable in the car, not even a phone charger.

The noise inside the hotel was the worst I’ve encountered anywhere. We could hear footsteps from above, people talking and yelling in the hall and adjoining rooms, and the elevator. It kept us from getting a good night’s sleep. I’m convinced the walls have no insulation and are paper thin. I usually put up with a lot at hotels, but this would make me think hard before booking again. My family had a suite, and the hotel itself was decent enough. It was clean, with no bugs like some older reviews mentioned, and plane noise was tolerable despite the airport being nearby. The location was okay too. This part of Alameda isn’t very walkable, though downtown is a short drive away.
