Days Inn Alamogordo

We picked this place while in town for a concert in El Paso, and it seems like a reliable option if there are no rooms available there. The outside could use some renovation, but our room more than made up for it. Everything inside was clean and well maintained, and the front desk woman was welcoming and kind.

Getting here was easy, there’s plenty of parking, and the location is near lots of good places. The rooms were nice and looked well cared for, although the faucet and showerhead were so loose they nearly fell off. They still worked. Breakfast is what brought my rating down. I care a lot about hotel breakfast, and this setup doesn’t seem planned for busy mornings. There’s only one waffle maker, so it takes about 5-7 minutes to make one waffle. The selection is two cereals, juice, yogurt, and some bread, all served in a cramped lobby. If someone is getting food, there’s barely room for anyone else to serve themselves. Breakfast runs from 6 to 9. By 8 on both mornings, almost everything was gone, with only cereal, juice, and one yogurt left when I went down. They either don’t restock or don’t limit portions. I’d understand if it happened close to 9, but an hour earlier with no refill is ridiculous. If breakfast doesn’t matter to you, the hotel is fine. If it does, I’d stay elsewhere. There aren’t nearby breakfast places besides ihop, which, honestly, is terrible.

I was traveling alone and didn’t have a charger, but the front desk staff found one for me and made me feel comfortable. My room and sheets were clean, and the bed was comfortable. I’d stay again.

The rooms were spotless, there was lots of free parking, including plenty of handicap spaces, and the ice machines and keys worked without a hitch. They accepted my Rewards number and didn’t try to charge extra. Breakfast was free, mostly grain-based. Great location, the polar opposite of CarlsBAD.
