For the price, you really can’t do better. The rooms were clean, the service was friendly, and breakfast was an actual, quite tasty meal served in the attached cafe.

The cafe next door served a fantastic breakfast that came with the room, and there were good restaurants close by. Alamosa is a very nice town, and I thought the downtown area was very nice too. The room was nice and fairly priced. The only downside, which didn’t matter much to me because I have unlimited data on my phone, was the internet. They advertise fiber, but the connection was as slow as molasses in January. If you say the internet is fast, it should be. The lighting was also lacking, which seems to be common in motel rooms now.

From the street it doesn’t look like much, but our room had been remodeled and was comfortable and clean. The Wi-Fi wasn’t strong. Breakfast was cafe-style with a limited menu: eggs, pancakes or potatoes, bacon, ham, or sausage, plus plenty of cafe coffee. I liked the western cafe vibe and felt inspired to leave the waitress a tip! 😁 I’d stay here again.

The desk service was first rate, the room was better appointed than most vintage hotels, and the owners clearly put care into the design. The property was super clean. But the bed was a big problem. I have spinal issues and initially thought the pain might just be me, but my wife, who has no back problems, was sore too when we got up. Breakfast was another letdown. I’m a vegetarian and asked for eggs and potatoes, with the bacon on a separate plate for my non-vegetarian wife. It arrived right on top of my food. When I told the waitress, she brought another plate so I could move it myself. For a vegetarian of 48 years, bacon grease dripping onto the food is a deal breaker. Most restaurants would remake it, but instead I had to cut away the parts the bacon had touched, leaving me with half a breakfast. I know people rave about the breakfast, but I’d choose something else next time. Even with those issues, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick this hotel again if I were staying in Alamosa. I’d just bring my air mattress and Tempurpedic travel bed and sleep on the floor.
