Hilton Albany

I called about changing something on an upcoming reservation and spoke with Tina. She was so friendly, calm, and happy to help. I haven't even arrived yet, but her service has already left me pleased. Tina is a great representative for Hilton. Thanks for your help!

The lobby looked polished and opulent, and the hotel has plenty of potential. But the hallways needed a good cleaning and weren't tidy, and the room was a letdown: holes in the curtains, cracked lampshades, cup rings on many hard surfaces, and no fitted sheets on the bed. That last part was the biggest issue for me. The room felt grimy overall. I paid a premium expecting a nice hotel, but didn't get a premium product. My most disappointing Hilton stay.

For a business stay, I found the room comfortable. Some furnishings were dinged, but the bed was amazing, the toiletries smelled lovely, and housekeeping came daily. The omelette station was fresh, most buffet items were good, and the breakfast staff were extremely pleasant. Breakfast isn't included, though, and the $23 plus tax and tip buffet isn't budget friendly. What really put me off was the lack of common space. The area that looks like guest seating is a restaurant, and the lobby becomes one at night. When I put my takeout bag on a table, a rude waitress loudly snapped, “you’re not eating that here,” making it clear there was nowhere to sit without buying something from the hotel. It was embarrassing. We were told to eat by the pool, where there are tables and chairs, but a sign on the door says no food or drink. Some amenities make up for others, so it’s a mixed bag. Still, I wouldn’t stay here unless I absolutely had to.

I stayed a few nights ago before an exam at the Empire State Plaza. The location was nice, with a parking garage and restaurants and bars within walking distance. The room was clean, and the supplied shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap smelled so good. I was surprised by the $22 parking fee. Breakfast was another $25, and for what I paid for the room I thought it would be included. The food wasn't even good, definitely not worth $25. Otherwise, it was fine.
