Hyatt Place Albany/Downtown

I arrived around 7:00 PM, but by about 11:00 PM I was woken by loud music from the neighboring room. The walls are extremely thin, and it was impossible to rest. I contacted the front desk several times for help and a reasonable accommodation, but nothing was done and the noise continued. I eventually went down and asked to change rooms or get a refund. The desk agent said he couldn’t move me and that a refund would have to wait until a manager arrived the next morning. Since the hotel couldn’t provide a quiet room, I had to leave. When I asked for a checkout receipt for my records, I was told the system wouldn’t let the agent check me out or issue one. I paid for a stay that wasn’t provided, and the hotel didn’t address a documented disturbance or offer a reasonable accommodation. I also left without written proof of my stay or checkout. Because they wouldn’t resolve the issue at the time, I had no choice but to go. I’ll seek reimbursement through my credit card provider for services not provided. I won’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone expecting basic customer service or a quiet stay.

Parking may otherwise mean street parking or paying for the nearby garage, but since we were there on a weekday, staff let us use the hotel's “temporary” parking for the evening. Check-in was quick, and everyone we dealt with was pleasant. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was decent. Lots of restaurants, pubs, and bars are within walking distance. I’d definitely stay at this Hyatt again if I’m in the Albany area.

The location looks a little out of the way, but a short walk gets you where you need to go, or you can just take an Uber. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the service is great. They also have free water and chilled drinking stations around the hotel. An easy choice.

We needed somewhere at the last minute after an unexpected hazmat issue forced us out of our apartment for the night. I understand they had no rooms available, but while my fiancé went to get the car, the staff member rudely told me to leave the lobby right away, even though the temperature outside was below zero. The staff were rude and not accommodating at all. We used to send visiting guests to this hotel, but after being treated this way, we won’t send anyone there again.
