The staff were friendly, and the price was very good. Those are the bright spots. The building has a nice shape and seems like it could have been attractive once, but walking in, I wondered if renovations were underway. My room felt pretty gross: the floors and furniture looked unclean and poorly maintained. It has potential, but saving money shouldn't mean cutting corners like that.

We arrived at 10 p.m. with a reservation. The double-queen suite had a sofa bed and was comfortable, and breakfast offered plenty of good choices. The downside was the strong smoke odor throughout the old hotel, including the rooms and hallways, which still have the same carpet. If you're allergic, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The room was small, though the rate was cheap. I remember this place being quite nice a couple of years ago, but now the building seemed like it might fall apart. The grounds were dirty and trashy, with damaged furniture and peeling wallpaper inside. I heard every noise from the room above. The hallway smelled, and trash sat outside the room across from mine from 7 p.m. until I left at 8 the next morning. Two dogs in a nearby room barked at every sound and seemed to go all night. I won't stay here again when similar prices get you much nicer places.

For a weekly stay, the price seems okay, though the daily rate feels too high. The room was decent overall and I didn't see any bugs, but there are only about 20 cable channels. The kitchen has no sink, which is frustrating. One room had a safe, while the heater in another was broken. When we asked to switch rooms, the front desk said we'd have to remove all our belongings from the first room before getting another, which was a hassle. The place seems to have been nice once, but maintenance hasn't kept up. There's no exercise room or breakfast.

The staff were pleasant, and the lobby and restaurant area had a lovely feel during the day. The property seems to have potential, but renovations, whether finished or still underway, have left the place feeling dreary. Some damaged room doors are missing their handles and are clearly not going to be rented soon. On a cold night, it was irritating to find that one of the rear doors didn't work for entry.
