La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Albuquerque Midtown

Breakfast had plenty to choose from: I had eggs, cereal, French toast sticks, sausage, and pancakes made at the counter. The hotel is pet-friendly and close to restaurants and fast food, and everyone on staff was friendly, professional, and willing to answer questions. We stayed one night in a second-floor room with a king bed and lots of comfortable pillows. It was spotless, everything worked, and the large window let in lots of light. The bathroom was clean, with plenty of towels, strong water pressure, and hot water. We also appreciated the microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge, and TV with lots of options. The grounds looked clean and well kept, and families seemed to be enjoying the indoor pool. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone wanting a clean, comfortable place.

The location worked really well for the UNM hospital and cancer center, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My room had a great bed, a nice desk and chair, and a good bathroom with hot water. Breakfast included eggs, sausage, pancakes, and plenty of other choices. I really enjoyed staying here.

We've stayed here three times over the past year while traveling. The lot is secure and a security company makes regular visits, which helped with the slightly intimidating industrial-area setting. It's handy to the interstate, and breakfast is good. The rooms are pleasant and fairly quiet, and the staff have always been friendly and accommodating.

The bed was comfortable, Wi-Fi was excellent at about 200 Mbps down and 190 Mbps up, and the regular TV changed channels quickly, though it had no smart features. The desk attendant offered to move me when I reported the strong weed smell in my room, despite the hotel's non-smoking notices. There was also an undisclosed $50 deposit at check-in. The place was much rougher than the photos: older building, musty smell, and a sketchy-feeling spot behind what looked like a junkyard. The air conditioner was stuck on heat at 63 degrees, and its up/down controls were broken. I shut it off and hoped the TV would warm the room. Breakfast was extremely sparse and disappointing: bread, bagels, steamed eggs, link sausage, and hazelnut creamer with lukewarm coffee. It was the cheapest hotel breakfast spread I've encountered. A couple of things were good, but the property, room problems, and misleading photos made the stay underwhelming.
