Days Inn by Wyndham Alexander City

After an Auburn game, I arrived exhausted with my young children and my dad, who uses a wheelchair. I’d booked two rooms through hotels.com, which apparently canceled the reservation, so the hotel made me pay again. When I reminded the front desk that Dad was in a wheelchair, the employee apologized but said only second-floor rooms were available and there was no elevator. We had to get him up the stairs ourselves. He’s 6'5 and 250 pounds, and no one offered to help us either going up or coming back down the next day. It was humiliating for both of us. With the Auburn game on, there were no other rooms nearby, or I would have left.

The showers had good pressure, and the toilets worked fine. The place was really clean and smelled fresh, not smoky, with high-quality bedding that felt on par with a nicer hotel. Staff were very friendly, which is why I wanted to leave a review.

I stayed one night at Days Inn and got locked out of my room after going to check the vending machine. Management couldn’t fix it. All my things were inside, and I didn’t even have my phone. They did move me to another room, where I stayed until almost checkout. They promised a decent refund because the night was ruined, but after waiting, I found they’d refunded just $8.00 on an $87.79 stay. I’m glad I tried one night before spending my weekends there. This was the worst hotel in Alexander City, AL, like staying at “ALEX CITY MOTEL.” -0/10, do not recommend!

The AC worked and the bed was comfortable, and the location was where we needed to be. Still, it was one of the nastier hotels I’ve stayed in, and I wouldn’t choose it again. There was an ice and cold drinks section, but the plugged-in ice machine had been gutted. All the vending machine spaces were empty too. We only stayed because it was convenient.
