Red Roof Inn Alexandria, LA

I was in town for a retreat in Forest Hill, about 20 minutes away. The room was clean, and the area was quiet. There was a small hole in the bathroom door, but it still closed properly, so it wasn't a problem. The staff were friendly, especially the sweet and kind young woman behind the desk when I checked out. I didn't catch her name. I'd definitely stay there again if I need to.

It was quiet and relaxing, and the rates were affordable. The parking lot was clean and there was nobody hanging around. The woman at the front desk was really nice and friendly. I'd recommend a room here to a friend and come back myself.

The front desk clerk was nice, but after checking in I saw several open doors with people hanging around, and it didn't feel right to me. There's also a long privacy fence across the entire front of the building. We left without staying, so I can't comment on anything else.

I had a horrible stay here while working as a travel RN at a local hospital and dealing with depression and everyday stress. A nurse friend had recommended this place, so I wanted to give it a chance, though I could have picked another hotel in the city. Mark the Manager had poor communication and people skills, and everything seemed to be about money to him. During my stay I became suicidal. On the day I tried to take my life, I was late for the 11 am room rebooking time. Mark called the police. The first responders saw how lethargic I was and called EMS so I could go to the hospital, but Mark showed no concern. He told me, “I do not need your money, find another hotel to go to.” I had clothes and valuables in the room when I was hospitalized. He threw everything away, including my work clothes and scrubs. I survived depression, but staying at a hotel like this made things worse. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and unfortunately I won't book with a red roof company again.
