SpringHill Suites Alexandria

The location worked well, near stores and lots of restaurants, with just a short drive into D.C. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well-kept, and the hotel was very clean. The free breakfast was a nice start to the day, while the complimentary laundry was a lifesaver with kids along. We also enjoyed relaxing by the pool, and that 12pm checkout was great! The hot tub wasn’t working during our stay, which was the one downside, but the rest more than made up for it. We had a great experience and would definitely come back.

We spent two nights here, and it was disappointing. The room wasn’t clean, the sink was clogged, and the noise made it hard to rest. The phone didn’t work, either. I reported the problems to the front desk, but nothing was fixed, and the room wasn’t cleaned during our stay. Staff said rooms are cleaned every other day and that the policy is on the website. That wasn’t clearly explained when we checked in.

The room was clean, spacious, and nice, but it vibrated all evening, through the night, and into the morning. The shower never got hot. Check-in was pleasant, though it took a little while, and the manager said they were using a new system. One of the elevators was out, and I was on the fourth floor.

Late checkout is one of the main benefits I value as a Platinum Elite Marriott member, especially after earning stay credit at Marriott locations around the world. It can mean an extra hour to nap, avoid heavy traffic, or take a private meeting call after a rough morning. Most other things hotel brands provide are standard. This location couldn’t accommodate late checkout, apparently because of a shortage or poor customer management, and that’s unacceptable. I won’t stay here again, and I hope others in the Marriott family think twice before booking.
