Saxon Inn

The room looked clean in the three minutes I was in it, but it was very dated, musty, and poorly ventilated. I had to leave soon after checking in because of a family emergency. I never asked for a refund, though the receptionist offered to void the reservation when her manager arrived. Later I was told to contact Expedia while they checked with the manager, only to learn the policy was no refunds. I understand that, but your staff offered it first. Please train them better. When staff make a mistake, the business is responsible too. Sending me to Expedia and making me spend time calling around was misleading and a waste of my time.

It was so quiet in the rooms, and the windows had nice views. The beds felt like sleeping on clouds, and everything was super clean. Reservations were easy, and the on-campus location was great. They made a good effort with the pandemic continental breakfast, with plenty of grab-and-go options. There was hot water available all day and night for tea or cocoa, and the staff were friendly.

We only got a room after being called from the waitlist, since the Saxon Inn fills up quickly for special events at Alfred State and AU. It was convenient and clean, and the staff were amazing and friendly. This was our first visit, and I hope a room is available next time too. It didn't disappoint.

The front desk staff were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We came to Alfred for a college visit in January and loved the campus and town, as well as the Inn's cozy, comfortable feel. Our room was warm and clean, with all the amenities we needed. We hope to come back and stay again.
