The pool is a great size, the hot tub is nice, and there’s a sauna just off the pool deck. There are also rooms available to rent for family get-togethers. The hotel is easy to reach just off the highway and is in a good area for families with kids. The room was a good size, though mine had a strange chlorine smell. The walls don’t block much sound, so you can hear the people next door if they’re loud. Getting around the hotel was confusing, too. Breakfast was decent but had limited choices, and they rushed you out. I still had a good experience.

It’s a convenient location, about a 10-20 minute drive from downtown Detroit. The continental breakfast was really good, one of the better ones I’ve had at a chain hotel. The only thing that bothered me was the strong marijuana smell in the hallways, though I can’t blame the hotel too much for that.

We came back after two years because we’d loved the sauna, pool, and service on our first visit. The breakfast had only been okay then; this time it cost $5 per person per night, and we found cheaper, better food at the shopping center. Our first room hadn’t been cleaned properly. The bed had wet yellow stuff on it, probably left by whoever stayed before us, and my partner broke out after using it. The floors were unswept and had wet spots or stains, the sink was dirty, and there was barely any toilet paper with no extra roll. We had to go down ourselves for everything, and I made two or three trips because housekeeping leaves at 3 p.m., which seemed strange. They offered to move us, and the second room was better in some ways, but still had problems. The air conditioner and heater were so loud that we took a video for our refund request. The hardwood floor hadn’t been swept either. There was no carbon monoxide detector, or it was missing compared with the one in the other room, and only about two plugs worked. The others were loose or completely dead. It was disappointing to go from a 10/10 hotel to a 2/10. The shopping center nearby was great and made for a fun day out. I hope they improve the rooms and amenities so we might consider returning.

The indoor pool is enormous, with a huge heated pool, an adults-only hot tub, and a dry sauna. There are tables, chairs, and lounge chairs all around, though the towels they provide are tiny, so grab a couple before getting in. The hotel also has a restaurant and lounge. Laura the bartender was kind and personable when we had dinner there. Breakfast costs an extra $5 per person, but there was a wide range of hot buffet options, so I didn’t mind paying for it. This is an old-school hotel with a layout that can be confusing, and the first floor has vintage car art all over the walls that could take an hour or more to look through. The sundry shop has a big selection of snacks, drinks, and other goods at reasonable prices, so they probably have whatever you forgot. Rooms are good: the carpet has recently been replaced with vinyl, which made sense since it was getting worn. The beds are cozy, they provide five different pillows, everything has been very clean, and both the heating and AC have always worked for me. I’ve stayed here several times and consider it one of the area’s best. Prices are reasonable, usually $90-$120 depending on the season, parking is free, and the check-in staff have always been friendly.
