After other staff had handled my rebookings and issued keys without making the incidentals deposit seem urgent, I felt pressured and treated like I'd done something wrong for needing a little time to find my wallet. This happened on the third day of my stay, around 5-6 PM. My reservation was through a third-party site, so I had to rebook twice rather than simply extend. When I went to the desk for another key, the employee asked about the deposit. I said I didn't have my wallet with me and thought it was in the room. His manner changed, and he became standoffish and reluctant to help. He eventually gave me a key so I could look, and I said I'd bring my card down once I found it. A few minutes after I got to the room, he called to ask if I was coming down. I said I was still looking and would come shortly. He called several more times over the next twenty minutes with the same question. On the last call, he said I had “ten more minutes” to bring down a credit card. It sounded threatening, though I couldn't tell what he meant would happen if I didn't meet that deadline. We decided to leave because of the repeated calls and his confrontational attitude. As we were leaving the room, he came up in the elevator and confronted me again about the deposit. I still hadn't found my wallet and realized it was probably in the car, but I felt too uncomfortable with how aggressively he'd acted to leave the building and look for it myself. We rode down with him in an extremely tense, awkward elevator ride. I waited in the lobby while my girlfriend went to the car to get my wallet. This could have been handled calmly, as my earlier interactions with other staff showed. I'd appreciate the incident being reviewed. No guest should feel harassed or intimidated over a refundable incidental deposit.
