Holiday Inn Express Allentown North by IHG

The manager moved us after I spoke up about the first room, which smelled like an ashtray and had a broken toilet, a nonworking bathroom fan and phone, and sticky carpets. That room was our home for the first two nights of a five-night stay. The replacement was better, though its air conditioner never shut off, which was especially difficult with a baby in the room. For a $700 stay, half our time was spent in a room that was far below what we paid for.

The room was clean and had everything I needed, and the front desk staff were friendly and explained the pool, gym, and breakfast at check-in. I stayed here while going to a concert at the PPL Center, which was an easy drive of about 15 minutes depending on traffic. I’d stay here again.

I was in town for a concert, and the hotel was clean, with great service and breakfast. My one issue was in the accessible room: when seated on the shower bench, the body wash and other products were mounted on the opposite wall, out of reach. I told the front desk, and they said they’d pass it along to maintenance.

The cleanliness rating is what brought us here, and the hotel lived up to it. Breakfast was free, warm, and included things like scrambled eggs, omelets, pork sausage, and bacon. The parking lot was nearly full each night, both on the weekend and during the weekdays we stayed. The hotel is just off US-22, and Allentown and Bethlehem are so connected that we didn’t really need the highways.
