We felt uncomfortable with how we were treated throughout the stay, and as African guests we couldn’t help wondering whether all guests were treated equally. My brother booked DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago Alsip for his birthday because the photos made it look like a good place. Instead, check-in took unusually long, and the staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The next morning, he’d paid for early check-in and asked about late check-out. We understand that depends on availability. But when we called to clarify, the receptionist, whose name was either Kay or Kai, was very rude and hung up abruptly. We called several times afterward and got no answer. The service didn’t show the hospitality or professionalism we expected from DoubleTree by Hilton, and we wouldn’t return. If you want a hotel in Alsip, Illinois with respectful staff and good customer service, this wasn’t our experience. I don’t recommend it.

The cookies were the best part. We booked three nights and I was ready to get home: the beds were hard and uncomfortable, and the pillows went flat as soon as you lay on them. We were there in winter and the heat didn’t work. The rooms also weren’t as clean as I’d expect from a place listed as four stars, and they’re old and need updating.

Denise at the front desk made the stay for us. She was great to talk with, recommended activities and food, explained the shuttle, and answered questions before we even thought to ask. We booked with her again on our way home because of her service. The rooms were clean, the pool was good, and there’s a restaurant on site. We were very pleased.

I was in town for a funeral and needed an early check-in. Bonnie and Kay were so kind about my requests and happy to accommodate me. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the cookies were delicious. I had a stay that went above and beyond, and I highly recommend this hotel. I’d choose it again if I come back this way. Thanks, ladies, keep up the good work.

My car was stolen from the hotel parking lot while I was staying there. A sign saying the hotel isn’t responsible for stolen cars or belongings is BS. I felt violated and unsafe. Guests should be able to expect some basic security and peace of mind at a hotel. I’ll never stay here again.
