Teewinot Lodge by Grand Targhee Resort

The single restaurant that was open had a tiny menu and was very expensive, which added to our disappointment. The rooms are dated, furniture is worn and scratched, the chairs are stained, and the carpet throughout the lodge is very dirty. Our bathroom had 2x4s and plywood where cabinets should be. Apart from Devin, the front desk staff seemed incompetent and didn't act like they cared for guests. They often didn't answer the phone. The key-controlled pool door hadn't worked for three days, so people were propping it open or jumping the fence. The hot tub only blew cold water, and maintenance wouldn't turn on the Teewinot Lodge fireplace on frigid days. The chairlift guys were mask nazis even though nobody got close to them. Do not stay here!

I couldn't wait to get out, and the stay was so bad I nearly slept in my car. The room was hot and muggy, smelled like dirty feet, and I was gagging the whole time. They put us in the wrong room and were jerks when I pointed it out. There's no AC, and getting around involves a lot of walking and stairs. It looked like the place had never been cleaned. The tub still had the previous guest's soap bar and hair in it, and there were cobwebs everywhere. Bugs were all over the room, with some questionable little ones on the bedding that made me scared I might bring bed bugs home. There was hair and other stuff on the sheets, so I don't think everything had been washed.

The setting is spectacular, and we liked being right at the ski area so we didn't have to drive. The rooms themselves are very basic. Complimentary ski storage is available at the resort.

Nice place, and I bet it rocks during ski season. But the main restaurants were closed Monday and Tuesday after Labor Day, so we had to drive 30 miles to get food. Not good.
