Altamont Motel

We were stranded about eight hours from home after a crash, with two puppies and very little money until payday. The motel manager did so much to help us, including making things easier with the dogs. One of them is apparently his now. The room was amazingly clean, especially for a $40-a-night place. We’d called another motel nearby first and got yelled at over the price, with no interest in hearing us out. This man made the Altamont feel like home instead of just another cheap motel. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The manager is the reason this place will stay in my heart. After a car crash, we were stranded eight hours from home with two puppies, $40, and two days until payday. He looked after us so well and cared for our pups, one of whom is his now. He helped restore my faith in people. The place is also clean, fairly priced, and within walking distance of the essentials.

We were told we had a cable box in our room, even though we’d returned the cable box, cable TV equipment, and internet router on our first day there. We’d been living there for six or seven months and used our Roku TV and internet for Netflix, Disney, Tubi, and other streaming apps. My wife and I were kicked out after a number of problems with the landlord, including issues involving family and friends, and now this. The way we were treated wasn’t okay. Respect has to be earned.

I had to wait a few days for a car part after my car broke down in Altamont, Illinois, and the garage was right across from the motel. Abby, the hostess, was friendly and accommodating. Manager Billy Jo and her husband were helpful when I needed to find my way around an unfamiliar town. The room was small but clean, and it cost about half what a chain motel would. I’d choose this place over a chain hotel any time. Thumbs up to Abby and Billy Jo.
