Tailwater Lodge Altmar, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Fishing was the main reason for our family trip, and it was excellent. Jerry Sullivan and Matt Ertzinger made sure everyone had a good time, especially the people in our group who'd never fished before. We brought our adult children and two-year-old grandson, and there was plenty for everyone. The hotel was child friendly, with a game room and pool indoors and lots to do outside. The restaurant staff, especially Taila, were wonderful with the kids, anticipating what we needed and making special food for the little ones. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all great, with something for everyone, and the bar had a lively feel. They were also very accommodating for fishermen and women heading out early. We tried the spa, and those who did sporting clays had rave reviews. This was one of our best family vacations, and the accommodations worked out perfectly.

The location is lovely and the staff are really nice. We had a long drive and were looking forward to unwinding in the sauna, but found out it cost extra and was only available with a spa package. That wasn't advertised anywhere. The spa is pricey, too, with a basic massage starting at $165. The hot tub could be hotter. The bartender was very nice, though.

Our family coming from out of town could stay right at Tailwater Lodge, and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We had both nights in the huge bridal suite for free. The rehearsal dinner and next morning's brunch were both delicious, and we enjoyed the hotel's hot tub, corn hole, and bonfire pits. We hope to return for anniversaries. Our dream romantic wedding there on 8/8/2025 was fantastic. We loved having everything in one place without having to arrange shuttles, and the staff set up all our decorations since we didn't have a wedding planner. I brought plenty of candles, signs, pictures, and small items. They provided linens, wood slabs for the table settings, and easels for my mirror signs. PHOTO CREDIT: KATIE DEAN PHOTOGRAPHY

We were there for a big wedding that took up most of the hotel, and the staff were amazing throughout. They were always courteous and very accommodating, both with the wedding and our stay. The restaurant food was good quality and reasonably priced. I'd absolutely recommend Tailwater for a large event, a weekend away, or even a casual dinner. You won't be disappointed.
