Amarillo Value Inn

I've stayed in plenty of cheap motels and know you get what you pay for, but this was exceptionally bad. The building has no heat apart from the room heater and AC, and even running it on high all night didn't make the room feel anything but cold. It looked clean at first, but there was a full bowl of cheese puffs in a drawer, so it only looked that way. I'd be much better off at a Motel 6.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. There was a big live spider in the bed, hairs on the toilet and sheet, and the room hadn't been cleaned. Someone else's opened soap was still in the shower, with stuff on the walls and floor. The rooms and surrounding area were dark and smelled like smoke and weed. When I told management, he shrugged and said it was normal.

We only needed sleep before continuing a 24-hour stretch of travel, but this was barely worth the low price. The room was in bad shape, with most of the lights not working. Something came crawling across the AC and escaped through a hole in the wall. The sliding doors didn't close or lock properly, with just a 1x1 aluminum bar to hold them shut. Check-in through a glass window was fine, I guess, though the office and motel both smelled like Indian food or something.

I stopped at 11 p.m. because I saw a $35 price and figured I wouldn't complain at that rate, but it turned out to be $59. The room looked straight out of the '70s, the floors were dirty, and the sliding door wouldn't latch right. What really got me was the faint puke smell throughout the room. I later realized it was the bedding, which smelled like it had all been washed in vomit. Absolutely disgusting. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
