My son checked out today because of family issues after staying in a weekly room since February. He left it as he found it, if anything cleaner than it was the first night. But the man claiming to be the owner said they don’t take deposits and that he had no record of the $200 deposit my son paid when his wife checked him in. He refused to let us speak with her and said he was the person we had to deal with. He also claimed the air conditioner had been left off, though we left it on, and said towels were missing, even though my son had used them the night before. When my son asked them to check him out and remove his credit card information, the man refused. They still have his card details and have kept the deposit rather than resolving this. He was rude and curt with us. A police report has been filed, and they have cameras.

They asked me for ID, which was fine, but didn’t treat me differently or ask questions about where I live now because I’m homeless. They let me stay the night and gave me breakfast the next morning. I’d tell others it’s a good place to stay.

I stayed there twice. The first time was for six months, when the motel manager’s son was running it, and it was okay, though he kept borrowing money from me. Now his dad, Billy, is running it, and it’s still not a good place to stay. You have to wash your own sheets. They don’t clean your room or even ask if you need anything. There are a lot of drugs around, and Billy is away much of the time. Most room doors don’t lock and are easy to get into. The windows don’t open, so if a fire blocked the door, there’d be no way out. Most rooms don’t have a microwave or a phone.

The owner is friendly and understanding, and the price is reasonable. It’s an older, outdated building, but still a decent little motel.

I was just passing through, but the manager wouldn’t let me stay with my highly trained service dog. So no, we didn’t screw him.
