Florida House Inn

You can walk to everything in the old district from this location, and the inn is quaint and beautiful, with a lovely front porch. Room 15 had a cute log-cabin feel. The internet was a real problem, though. It kept kicking us off after just 5-10 minutes. There was a mix-up about breakfast on the first morning, so we went to a local place instead. The next morning’s breakfast was a pleasant surprise: made-to-order eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, plus good coffee, yogurt, berries, breads, and OJ. If the docent is giving a talk, don’t miss the little historic museum.

Julie and Emily made me feel at home with their kindness, helpfulness, and attention to detail. The inn’s friendly little cats added a sweet touch, too. At the Florida House Inn in historic Fernandina Beach, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine Southern hospitality. It’s full of history and charm, and well placed for exploring downtown shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. I loved my visit and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend it for a cozy, welcoming stay on Amelia Island.

The rooms feel old and personal, and the staff were friendly when I could find them. But there was an odd smell, our TV didn’t work, and the place was noisy all the time because of the outdoor bar next door. There’s no parking, and people from the street were constantly coming and going.

The location is hard to beat, but I couldn’t tell that there was any heating or air conditioning. It’s a very old building with very old plumbing, which must be difficult to maintain. Even with the great location, I wouldn’t stay here again.
