Extended Stay America Select Suites - Provo - American Fork

I stayed here again and it still feels like a comfortable home base for a longer trip. The suite is roomy, the full kitchen makes cooking easy and affordable, and the Wi-Fi is fast. Shops are close by, and the room was clean and comfortable. Staff and management greeted me with real smiles and were quick to help. They remembered my name and fixed a Wi-Fi glitch before I'd even finished asking. Housekeeping is quietly dependable too, with a deep clean each week, fresh towels daily, and the kitchenette restocked with dish soap and paper towels. It's a reliable routine that makes a long stay easier.

The room gets a lot of noise from the highway, and other guests can be loud in the hallway. The elevator has been out for months, while the kitchen has barely any counter space and its hot and cold taps are reversed. It also takes ages for hot water to come through. We've been locked out several times because the autopay we set up wasn't processed properly. Since we've said we're staying for months, I don't understand why our room key expires every week. Room service is unreliable and often doesn't happen at all.

I couldn't cook the food I'd brought because they charged extra for the dish set, which is usually complimentary at Extended Stay hotels. The desk staff weren't helpful either. I saw one give another guest a towel and say, "They're pretty clean, even if housekeeping left some stains." The place was filthy, with grime built up in several spots around badly installed flooring and bathroom fixtures. The kitchen looked like somebody had cobbled it together from secondhand Facebook cabinets. It felt like the hotel version of a disastrous home flip. I usually like Extended Stay hotels for being clean, quiet, and comfortable without pretending to be luxury. This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

Getting around was easy since it's close to the freeway and gives access to everything. ESA American Fork has been a great place for us, with roomy, very clean rooms and staff who are friendly and helpful.
