The best part of our visit was getting to talk with Allen. He was such a warm, kind host, and I loved hearing his stories about the area. My daughter and I were in town touring colleges, and the room worked perfectly for us. We also enjoyed learning about the house's history and the care that went into restoring it. Ann made a delicious breakfast each morning with quality ingredients, and the homemade madeleines in the evening were a lovely treat. The homes are meticulously kept, the hosts are welcoming, and the sweet kitties were the icing on top. I highly recommend this beautiful inn.

I first visited in June 2022, enjoyed it so much that I came back the following year, and hope to return again soon. The rooms at both Allen House and Amherst Inn are clean, spacious, and nicely decorated, with cozy beds and generous breakfasts. The banana bread is especially good. Allen House has several friendly cats, which is great if you like animals. If you have allergies or would rather avoid cats, the same people run Amherst Inn a few minutes' walk away. The spot is lovely and green, with a pretty garden and the Emily Dickinson museum right across the street. Downtown Amherst is only a couple of minutes away on foot, and there's a natural area in the other direction where you can watch fireflies at certain times of year. There are excellent restaurants nearby. Ann recommended Johnny’s, and I recommend it too. The couple who run the inns are kind and helpful, with great suggestions for things to do and places to visit. They went above and beyond to make my stay special and relaxing.

The traditional Victorian house is beautiful and very well maintained, and the place was quiet. We had our own room key and were left undisturbed. The owners were so helpful: they gave us a map, shared their favorite local activities, and provide free breakfast just down the street. They also have the cutest hypo-allergenic rag doll cats. My husband and I were so happy here, and if we're back in the area, we'd stay again.

We loved our brief stay and are already looking forward to coming back next year. The house is unique and conveniently located, with beautiful wallpaper throughout. Our room and bathroom were very clean, and you can tell the place is well cared for. The hosts were really kind and sweet.

I’d always wanted to stay in a historic bed and breakfast, and when my boyfriend Chris and I came to Amherst for a wedding, we found this treasure. As someone who loves antiques and historic architecture, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and attention to detail. Ann showed us around and was so gracious; her husband Alan was sweet and kind, and we bonded over our two-night stay. Our room had tons of ambiance, and the bed was so comfortable it felt like a nest. I usually sleep poorly, but my Fitbit showed I got more deep sleep than ever. Breakfast was served at their sister “Amherst Inn” down the street. Ann showed me around there too, and chef Pam made wonderful blueberry pancakes with warm pure maple syrup. We also had fantastic conversations with both owners. I could go on about their hospitality. I recommend these inns without hesitation and would go back in a heartbeat. It felt like a lifelong dream come true.
